How to Stop Dogs From Being Aggressive With Other Dogs on a Leash

One of the most frequent behavioral reasons that dog owners seek professional veterinary assistance is their dog’s aggression towards other dogs. Aggressive dog behavior can be very hard to remedy and often the only thing that helps a dog owner overcome aggression issues is by taking the dog to a dog obedience school. Aggressive dog training should never be attempted without the guidance of a qualified dog trainer, however, some of these aggressive dog training tips might help you with your obedience training. In this article I will give you a couple of simple tips for successfully training your dog to be obedient. If you follow these dog training tips on a regular basis your dog will grow calmer and will live a longer life.

Let’s face it, any dog that barks or whines constantly is going to have a serious problem. You will probably even notice other dogs barking when your dog starts to bark excessively. You may even find yourself standing there with your dog while he is barking out of fear, because it is in his nature to protect himself. If you want to learn how to stop dogs from being aggressive with other dogs, you need to establish some sort of authority over your dog.

You will probably have to do some conditioning exercises before you train him to react to other dogs. You need to make sure that your dog has no prior experience being around dogs that are aggressive or who are known to be aggressive. This will eliminate much of the potential stress level that your dog will experience while you are trying to correct his aggressive behavior. You will need to use a little bit of treats and positive reinforcement before attempting to correct any aggressive behavior in a dog.

If your dog is lunging at another dog or lunging toward something when he sees it, you should probably consider training your dog to walk on a leash. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. All you need to do is teach your dog how to walk on a leash. Most dogs can learn how to walk on a leash fairly quickly. If he lunges at another dog while he is on the leash, though, he should be reprimanded immediately.

There are many different ways to teach your dog to respond to another dog by walking beside him on a long line. If he begins to lunge at another dog or if he lunges wildly, you should probably give him a few corrections and then continue on with your walk. He should learn that he can only lunge at things that are a couple feet away from him on a long line. If he lunges past that point, he is not being disciplined – he is being dangerous.

Sometimes the problem lies in the owner’s inability to recognize the symptoms of the problem. When your dog lunges at another dog on a long line, he may be exhibiting symptoms of reactive aggression. However, he could also be displaying symptoms of fear or anxiety. So you need to be able to differentiate between these two types of behavior. You need to use your own knowledge as well as your dog’s knowledge about stress level and body language to help you recognize which behavior is acceptable and which is not. By being able to distinguish between these two types of behavior, you will be better prepared to deal with the problems that arise.

Another reason that dogs become agitated with other dogs on a leash is because the dog does not like being alone. The more time you spend training him for walks, playing with other dogs and obedience training, the more familiar he becomes with the routine of your life. He may begin to feel as if he is being forced to behave a certain way or if he is being yelled at during walk time. This could lead to aggressive behavior toward other dogs on the walk. So you should take the necessary steps to eliminate any confusion or frustration by establishing a routine of walks, play dates and obedience training.

If you want to reinforce your dog’s love for you and your family, it is vital that you teach him to respond to other dogs treats and vocal signals. You can teach him to sit when you give him his dog treats or to come when called. You can teach him to heel when called or to walk beside you on the leash. You can even establish a basic “sit” command so that he will come when called.
