How to get my dog to listen to me outside is one of the most important dog training tips I can share. Sometimes dog training tips are very specific in what they mean. Other times the meaning is vague. There are a dog training tip for every situation and every dog. I am going to give you some dog training tips right now that will have your dog listening and following your commands.
The first tip I have is – Be gentle with your dog. When you have control of your dog, you can start using more powerful dog language like alpha dog. Don’t shout at your dog or use bad dog language. Your dog will eventually get the message and come when called. It may take a while but eventually your dog will follow your commands.
The second dog training tip I have for you is to train him to listen to you. If you don’t catch your dog or he keeps going in the other direction, you could be calling him by name, but he is not responding. When you have control of your dog, call him by name and when he responds to you, give him his treat. This gets him to know that by coming when called, he gets rewarded with a treat.
The third dog training tips I have for you is – Put your dog on a leash. Even if it is just for a walk, put him on a leash. A dog who is always on a leash is less likely to roam and go off by himself. This is a dog training tip that I have tried in many situations. When I was a teenager, my dog would wander off every time we had a party over and I didn’t have any place to keep him. I had to call him every time we went somewhere.
The fourth dog training tip is – Train him to ignore the noise around him. Dogs have a much more difficult time ignoring things when they are being stimulated. For example, if you have a dog that barks at every car that passes by, you will not want to leave your dog alone in your driveway. He will constantly be barking at cars. Get him a doggy door. You will be surprised how much easier this will be for you too to manage.
The fifth dog training tip I have for you is – Don’t let him out. Even if you are in your yard, walking your dog by himself is dangerous. A dog that has no where of his own to go out of your yard is going to want to get out. If you do not have fencing in your yard, get a dog fence. You can even build one yourself if you like. This way, if he wants to get away, he can.
The final dog training tip I have for you is – When he is barking at an animal or noise, you want to get him on his dog leash. You want to guide him to an area of your yard where there are no distractions. You will want to be in a place where it is not going to be an issue for him to get distracted. The idea is to train him where you want him to be and not what you want him to be. In other words, don’t yell at him, or move towards him to make him walk towards you.
Following these tips on how to get my dog to listen to me outside will take time and patience on your part. Be patient, and be persistent. Remember that it is going to take time for him to become accustomed to what you want him to do. You must remember that the key to training is consistency.
