Teaching your dog to bark on command can be very frustrating because dogs just bark for a reason. Most of the time it has nothing to do with anything you are doing. Many times when you train your dog by using the ‘speak’ command and make him sit next to you, the dog is going to give little or no attention and just glare at you. If you want to know how to teach a dog to bark then keep reading because there are some easy dog training tricks that will work wonders.
Dogs don’t just bark for fun. They do this kind of thing in order to alert you to something that is going on. It’s just like children. When we are going to go somewhere, we need to be careful. Children follow their parents or friends around all the time. Well, dogs do the same thing and if you learn how to teach a dog to bark properly, they will always be looking for attention.
A dog training trick involves teaching your pooch to sit and stay. This is probably the most important dog trick you can teach him since he won’t be able to play any other dog trick or even bark anymore. In order to teach your dog to sit, you have to start by having him sit down next to you on the sofa or bed. Now gently put your arm around his lower back and lean forward slightly. Let your pooch understand what you are trying to say and gently guide him into sitting still.
Another dog training trick involves calling out a word that is used by your dog. For example you can call out ‘sit’. However, if you want to teach your dog to jump on people, you need to train him first. One of the simplest tricks to teach dogs is the shake-down. You can start this by having your pooch walk beside you while you are standing with your arms stretched out. Then simply lean back and let your dog knocks you over.
Another interesting dog training trick involves treating your dog like a special toy. You can easily teach this trick by having him sit near you. Then get a treat near your buttocks. Call out ‘sit’ and give him your treat. Praise him and give him lots of love and attention. When he gets the message that he can sit on your buttocks, he will not hesitate to sit there and you will no longer have to shout at him to get him to stop.
You can also use these tricks when playing games with other dogs. It’s a good idea to teach these commands to your dog when you’re out playing with him, as dogs tend to obey commands when they know that their playmate is doing the right thing. You can even throw a ball and have it chase the other dog or simply throw it in front of him. Have your dog sit whenever the ball comes towards his nose. Whenever the ball gets within reach, give him the command and he will run after it.
Some other dog training dog’s tricks include teaching him how to give you the boot. For this trick, you will need two towels and a dog biscuit. The first thing you will do is to wet the towels and place them flat on the ground. Next, have your dog sit quietly and then move one of the towels to his head.
Have your dog lie down next to you on the floor and then give him the dog biscuit. Then move one of the towels to his nose. While the dog is watching you, tell him ‘stay’. When the dog stays still give him the dog treat. With enough practice you will be able to teach any dog tricks at all.
