A dog is a wonderful pet and one that can be very enjoyable to have around. It is often a great pleasure for the owner to come home after a long day and relax with their dog. It is often the dog that brings in the family together so that they can spend time together. However, training a dog can be a little bit of a challenge for some people. It can be even more of a challenge if the dog is an older dog that has not been trained on basic dog training. The good news is that there are some great dog training tips that can be used to easily teach your dog the right way to go potty.
One of the first things that you need to do when learning how to train a dog not to poop at the house is to introduce them to the bathroom in a different fashion. It may take some time for them to understand this concept but it is important that they understand this concept before they even get to the actual bathroom. The best way to do this is to have your dog sit on the bathroom seat or potty chair until they become familiar with it. This will make it much easier for them to get used to going to the bathroom in this new area.
After they have become accustomed to going to the bathroom in this particular spot you should move it to another part of the house. Keep in mind that dogs are extremely cautious creatures. Anything that they see as a threat to them they will likely try and avoid. If you introduce them to the potty training chair at first you can gradually move it to another part of the house.
There are a number of other dog training tricks that can be used in order to teach your dog that the toilet is the right place to go. One of the most effective of these is known as “crunching the dog” which involves coaxing your dog by saying “crunch” and making repeated circles with your dog over the potty area. You should keep repeating this until they eventually learn that this spot is where they need to go to do their business. Once they have learned this dog training trick you can then move on to more advanced dog training tricks.
Another dog training trick that you can try is known as “go to the bathroom”. You can start by taking your dog to the same spot in the house where they normally urinate. Once they have located the designated spot, close your eye and start waving your dog around in circles. Eventually your dog will eventually learn to hold it until they get to the designated bathroom spot. To further confuse your dog while learning how to train a dog not to poop at the door, you can throw a bone or a toy at them and encourage them to catch it.
As mentioned earlier, another useful trick for potty training is teaching your dog to go out to the garden when they have to use the bathroom. This can easily be achieved by creating an obstacle course. Begin by creating a circle large enough for your dog to walk around in and make sure there are no pieces of hardware or other obstacles in the way. Once you dog has finally got around the obstacle begin asking them to go to the designated spot.
During the actual potty training you will want to take your dog through it slowly. Start by taking them to the designated spot, close your eyes and begin calling them by name until they approach. If they ignore you, simply stay calm and walk past them. Continue this pattern over several days until they eventually get it. Once they have learned to go to the bathroom outside you can begin asking them to sit while you give them treats and praise, after that you can begin asking them to relieve themselves indoors.
If your dog loves to pull, you can add another step to your potty training, if your dog has a habit of running off in circles. Have them sit on a leash in a circle. Once they stop pulling, give them a treat and praise. Continue this pattern until they understand that they cannot run circles. With patience and love you can have a great dog that goes potty in the right place without any accidents.
