How to Train Your Dog Not to Jump on You

It’s time to learn some dog training tricks. How is your dog so smart? He is learning too! Here’s how to train your dog not to jump on you.

At first, your dog was just an ordinary dog. He didn’t even know that he was smarter than the dogs who were around him. But as you’ve been loving him and giving him good dog training, he started thinking that he is the boss. So he starts thinking that if he jumps on people or does other stuff, then his “king” or “leader” will come in and “fix” everything. He’s a smart dog.

That’s when you need to start thinking of ways to stop him from jumping on you. The first thing you need to do is to teach your dog to sit. There are two methods you can use to train your dog to sit. One is the conventional sit-stay-fetch method while the other one is the braintraining4dogs method.

In the traditional sit-stay-fetch method, you would have to control your dog using a leash. Your dog should sit calmly near you. Then, give a command such as “sit” or “stay” and then say it firmly again. If your dog jumps on you, then do the following steps. First, ignore him until he learns that jumping off the floor is not a good thing.

When he stops jumping, give him lots of praise and a treat. This way, he learns that his bad behavior is going to get him no matter how many times he jumps on you. Eventually, he’ll learn that jumping isn’t a good behavior. After that, continue the training by walking slowly next time he jumps on you. By following this method regularly, he’ll soon learn that his jumping behavior is no longer appreciated.

The second method you use in teaching your dog to stop jumping on you is called “brain training for dogs”. This is a good method, since it’s actually what your dog wants. If he jumps on you, he hopes that you’ll pay more attention to him because he got your attention in the first place. To make sure you get his attention through this method, just kneel down next to him while giving him your attention. If he sits down, give him lots of praise and even a treat.

The last method you can use to train your dog not to jump on you is called “verbal recall”. This is a powerful tool which can be used to effectively train your dog to stay away from jumping on you. You do it like you would train your dog to sit, lie down and follow you. Start by saying hi to him, then turn to walk away. Repeat this several times and when he follows you, simply say hi and if he jumps on you, say goodbye and walk away.

These methods are effective, but they won’t work unless you’re consistent with them. Make sure you always practice your new behaviors by walking by him while giving him attention. If you have another dog at home, make sure you feed both of them too. By consistently doing these behaviors, your dog will quickly develop the association between good behavior and the added bonus of receiving a treat or extra attention.

If you have a dog that is particularly aggressive, you can start training treats for additional incentive for not jumping on you. This can also be accomplished by starting at the verbal recall program using the same commands. Your dog will learn to sit quietly while you reward him with a treat. Later, you can teach him to walk beside you without jumping on you by reversing the procedure.

Other methods you can try are giving your dog extra attention. Many dogs jump on people and therefore will ignore their owner. If you can distract your dog while you get some extra attention, he’ll start training himself to ignore your attention when you’re not around. One way to train your dog not to jump on you when you have company is to tell him to go play with his toys and forget about everything else for a bit. This will get him accustomed to the sound of other dogs and eventually he’ll realize that other dogs don’t jump on him as much as he jumps on them.

As a dog trainer, you need to remember that your puppies and adult dogs do not know any better when it comes to jumping on people. You must exercise patience and have firm rules that you’ll stick to. Train your dog yourself if you want a very good result or enroll him in obedience classes. Once he’s trained himself not to jump, you can still make him jump if you want. It’s just that using positive reinforcement and other methods will help you achieve this.
